ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
Learning to turn off our internal smoke alarm
Anxiety and negative emotions such as anger and depression have come to be seen as problems in and of themselves.
But they are actually essential feedback from our brain that we are on the wrong track and something in our life needs changing.
Anxiety is a helpful signal that tells us something is wrong and that we need to change it.
Anxiety and other negative emotions act as an internal "smoke alarm".
But like a real-life smoke alarm, it's hard to think straight while it's blaring.
Once we've received the message that something is wrong and needs attention, we need to be able to turn off this "alarm" so we can focus on solving the problem.
